this was actually yesterday. I stayed home and cuddled with her all day. We called the dr, they said as long as she's still drinking liquids, she's ok. And she is. She slept from 7pm (normally goes to be at 8) until 6am. So, all is good... but 104 is pretty scary.
it is scary to see, but kids up to like 3 yrs old can handle up to 107... i took my kiddo to the ER once when he had a similar fever, and they said don't bother til 106... actually, that's happened a few times. kids are resilient, she'll be OK
I'm not a parent, but I think at any age that puts you near death. I'll keep my fingers crossed it goes down asap. At her age she might incur brain damage. At least that's what I learned in psychology....
Brianna and the doctor are right. Temps for little kids are different than temps for adults. Even though it's definitely a fever and she's sick, it's not as bad as it might seem to you. She should probably take the day off. The coal mines can be so rough on a young girl of 1, sick or not.
T- it's pretty funny because she could generally care less what's on tv for 95% of the day. For the past two days she just whines until we put on Sesame Street.
Timathon: I know it's true that wee ones get temperatures higher than adults, but I totally understand how scary this can be. Last year when Georgia was five, she spiked a 104 degree fever every day for seven days. We were pretty scared. Even when they're five it's not fun. Although it's kind of nice to have them cuddly and sleepy for a change!!
I hope she feels better soon! You and Kym are great parents!

infants and animals have higher core temperatures than adult humans. normal is a different range for them, so listen to the doctor.

N - I knew kids temps could get high, but she was on fire.
B - Our Dr. said there's no temp that's too high as long as she is drinking and seems ok. 106 and 107 would be really scary.
