The Mandate

The mandate has been issued. December 30th is man's day out. No women allowed. It's a man date. 12/30 - The Official Man Date. (did I miss any alternate uses of the two words man and date?)

That's what it comes down to theses days. Just a few years ago we would decide to go out at 10pm on a Saturday night. Now, we have to plan our drinking fests two weeks in advance. And they have to be day loads, not nights out. 7 friends. 7 dads. 7 recipes for disasters. We're all hopping on our respective local train/cab/bus/trolley/donkey and we're meeting in center city for a day of debauchery. I'm giddy with delight.

If The Mandate were a movie, who would be the star? I actually checked imdb.com to see if it already existed. I thought for sure I would see a movie that I never saw staring Harrison Ford or Sean Connery or Nicholas Cage or Samuel L Jackson.

I think it would star Rainn Wilson and would involve copious amounts of salmon colored office paper. Or Harrison Ford. Either/or.

I say Christopher Walken. Maybe not the #1, but definately a big supporting role.

First of all, I am happy for you on your Man Date. I recommend that Pierce Brosnan play you in the film version.

But here's the real question? Why, oh why did Pam rebuff Jim's advances, only to break up with Roy, now she's sad sack all alone while Jim is canoodling with Karen? What is wrong with her? Why didn't she call Jim and say, "Guess what? I broke up with Roy? I'll have sex with you now." Theories, please.

Oh, but Leezer, did you see Jim's poignant realization that Karen is just a rebound & he still really does love Pam?

The Jim/Pam thing is kind of annoying to me. We spent the first two seasons with the "will they, won't they" get together. Then it's answered and now weren't back to the questions again. Shit or get off the pot. I'm tired of the ross/rachelness of it all.

yeah, that's right "weren't" back to those questions.

Tim, your grasp of the English language is astonishing to me.

I still like the Jim/Pam story line, but then again, I could do another ten seasons of Ross/Rachel angst, so there you go.

I was going to say the thing about Jim explaining how Karen (who is actually Quincy Jones' daughter) is just a rebound.

Enjoy man's night out.

I think "The Mandate" should star Steven Segal or Paul Reiser. They're pretty much the same guy if you really think about it.

Karen is Quincy Jones daughter? Did you see it when Michael met Karen and asked if her Dad was a G.I.?

My husband thinks the Jim/Pam thing is stupid and the show should get back to the business of doing what it did originally - just make us laugh.

I don't think it ever stopped making me laugh. I mean, how can you not laugh when Michael puts marker on a girls arm because he can't tell her apart from her firend (who are clearly not the same good looking waitresses they had at lunch).

It's me, @Moustachio said...

Could I go with?

The Office is so...un-in your face comedy...my fav part was when Michael admitted to Jim that he marked her arm & said that she was the one...
