Uggh!

For the past month or so Kym and I have been looking to buy a car. Yesterday we were determined to finish our annoying search and make a deal. After deciding on the car we went to the dealer. They gave us a price way too high, we gave them a price way too low. They budged, we budged, they were done budging at a price still way too high so two hours after arriving, we left. I called a car dealer friend, who made some calls and told us where to go and who to talk to. We walked in the dealer, they appraised our trade in, and gave us just over what we expected. I told them it was a deal if they threw in roof rails. They agreed. 20 minutes after arriving, we made a deal. One month and 6 dealerships later, we made a deal in 20 minutes. Why does everything about car shopping have to be so annoying?

Car shopping has to be my least favorite activity. Andrew likes to drag it out as long as possible because he thinks of haggling as a sport. It drives me nuts.

I'm glad you got it taken care of before Christmas!!

I agree with Christina's husband. Haggling is a sport to me. However, I do know a guy who owns a Honda and a Toyota/Scion dealership, so I'm pretty much all set.

I really like the color. I'm partial to a very dark blue, but that super dark red is definitely a strong second for me.

Car shopping...I HATE it! Haven't had to do it since we bought our Pilot last year. Love the new ride man, especially the color. Post some real life pics sometime when you get the chance.

I don't know why car shopping is annoying. Most of my cars I've gotten from people in newspapers. I got a car from Carmax in 2005 but I just picked the first thing I saw within my price range because I didn't care and wanted a car. I probably should've looked more because I don't like my car and it always had brake problems. I call it R2 because of the runny noises it makes. Wheee-ooo-ooop!

I didn't know you were looking for a car. I have this sweet '93 S10 I would have sold you for, oh I don't know, five thousand. I would have thrown in the rust for free.

Oh great One said...

I hate HATE car buying! I feel physically ill over the haggling thing. The last car we bought was smooth as silk. I'm sure it was a once in a lifetime thing though. Congratulations on the new car. It looks like it could fit two carseats...or more!

We're going to get rid of my car before we move so I wish I'd known so I could have sold you my bbq'd car and save me the hassle of trying to sell it later.

Btw, MERRY CHRISTMAS!

C - yes, the deal was made before christmas, but we don't actually get it till tomorrow. Can't wait!!

T - the picture is actually a lot more red that in real life. On a dark day it looks black, but in the sun it looks more red. We were between that and the dark blue they have.

L - I had to talk Kym out of a mom mobile.

C - It was a mazda cx9 or a pilot. The pilot is being remodeled next year, so we were afraid we'd love that one and be upset with the outdated model.

G - Car shopping is annoying because car salesmen are so full of shit and annoying.

J - People work years to get that rust and you'd be willing to throw it in for free? Nice deal.

O - yep, it has 3 rows, so the car seat situation should be fine... we'll see about the everything else that does with 3 car seats... but not for a few more years.

M - thanks, you too!

M - you definitely moving up here??
