Here's one to win over my readers...

I'm pretty sure I don't like dogs. There I said it. I don't like em. I think. We dog sat over the holidays. Our neighbors went to Israel for 12 days and we watched their dog. It was just about the most well behaved dog I've ever seen. It barked about 4 times over 12 days. It chased our cat the moment it walked in the door, then left her alone for the next 12 days. Since the cat was hanging on the 2nd floor, it just slept downstairs. We caged it the first day, then didn't need to for the rest of the stay. We basically forgot it was there except when we had to walk it or when Kenslee was torturing it. Kenslee loved to pretend to throw something at it. It would flinch and Kenslee would literally almost die laughing. She'd do this for about 20 straight minutes. Then she'd chase the dog. She'd chase it into one room laughing, then a few moments later she'd come out laughing with the dog chasing her. She really loved the dog. Me? Not so much. I don't really have a reason either. I think it was just a boring dog. He just sat on the sofa for 23 hours a day. He was like a cat. He looked like a cat too being that he was about 8 pounds. We've dogsat for a boxer and I liked that dog a lot even though it drooled all over the house. We've dogsat for a Jack Russell and I liked that dog even though I'm pretty sure he was on coke. But, this little, log haired shitzu just turned me off for dogs.

Yeah, I'm not much of a dog person either. Two stupid chocolate labs in a failing relationship turned me off.

I won't kick them or anything, I just don't want one as a pet.

That's cos Shitzus kind of suck. I mean, they basically have the word shit in them, they're bound to be sucky dogs, right? ;-)

I am most definately a cat lady- through and through. I have to say I adore large dogs, though. I grew up with this huge, half- wolf mass of long fur, claws, and teeth. I've only ever met 1 small dog I liked. I think I only liked it because it used a litter box and curled up in my lap like a kitten. Awww.

Sure, I am a huge dog person, but I completely understand your point of view. Some dogs are just not as cool as other dogs. They can be a lot of work, they can smell and leave hair all over the place, plus they never leave when you want them to. Kind of like kids, I guess. So if you have a kid, you basically have a dog. And you don't NEED a real dog, by that logic. (We're totally going to be screwed when we add a kid to our 3 dog household...that's like 4 dogs, which is against all sorts of local zoning laws, too.)

Ernie is a Shih Tzu. I got him as a eight week old pup and he looked at me like I'd never seen a dog do before. He's turning two tomorrow. He doesn't sit at all. He carries Barbies around in his mouth, grabs steaks off the table, terrorizes the cat, and plays all day long. I take him everywhere and put underwear on him for laughs.

You had a lousy Shih Tzu that's all.

I know that we could never own a dog under forty pounds but I can see the charm in having something to play dress up with. If you were to dogsit Lars, I know you'd want to go buy a dog afterwards. Unfortunately, not all dogs are as amazingly awesome as my Bubby.

People who don't like dogs are communists. Just thought I'd let you know.

Dogs are to the pet world what zits are to my ass.

I don't know either.

P - Yeah, I think that's my deal too.. I just wouldn't want one as a pet.

k - kinda like a kid I grew up with Asshole McGee.

G - Big dogs are a little cooler.

C - One thing I hear often is how it's so nice when a dog gets excited to see you after work (this one didn't get off the sofa when we got home), but that dog greeting is nothing compared to a kid running into your arms greeting.

L - maybe, I dunno. But, Kenslee wears her mom's bras on her head, so that's some high quality underwear humor right there.

M - I guess I see dogs as manly type animals. I like my cats tiny and my dogs big. (Except puppies, they're ok when they're small)

C - on the contrary, a quick google search produced this: "Karl Marx was fond of dogs". Plus Hilter loved his dog so much he poisoned him. If I had any motivation I'd write a post about how all dog owners should move to Cuba.

J - I don't even want to know what that makes cats.

I have two dogs. I'm not going to say that I hate dogs, but I don't like mine. They're just a pain in the ass. I liked them a lot more before my daughter was born. Now,they're a nuisance. My kid loves them, though. Next one I get is going to go to a dog boot camp so he listens to every command I give him, as opposed to my dogs who, between the two of them, probably have half a brain.

I like dogs I just don't like to clean up after them.

My husband has always complained that the dogs we've cared for were needy. He wanted a dog that was independent and that wouldn't demand his attention all the time. I told him he wanted a cat! Ha!

I agree with most people here; Shih Tzu's (or however you spell it) aren't that great. My aunt has a cute shih tzu, but other than that, I don't like them. Maybe you had a dud. I am more of a cat person anyway.
