Just agree with me

So, the wife and I are butting heads over what to do about the new TV we got. The cable guy is coming out of Friday to hook it up. The TV doesn't fit in our old entertainment center, so we have to get something new. I want to mount the tv to the wall and run the wires through the wall and down into a small entertainment unit to hold the tivo and dvd player... something cheap for like $100. The tv is somewhat light and will be dangerous in a few years when kenslee is old enough to grab at it. It's pretty much the best way. Here's what it would look like.

Kym wants to get a whole new entertainment system for like a million dollars. Here's what that would look like.

Obviously my way is better, right?

Well we've only heard your side, right? Obviously Kym is right. If you're anything like my husband, it's all about function with absolutely no regard to whether it looks like crap. I finally just gave him a little corner in the garage to "decorate." Whatever you decide to do, though, you're right about Kenslee grabbing at it in like ten months. She's got energy, and ther'll be no mountain too high for her to climb. Trust me. Put it wayyy up there, in a Pottery Barn unit, though.

Tim, why are you doubting yourself? You're right - you're always right.

Despite what you WANT us to think, I think your way ROCKS! I've always wanted a wall mounted unit. TV you pervs...

You know, for a million dollars, that one unit is really ugly.

mk - of course I am.

vof - in 10 month, she'll be on one of her benders and pull the thing on top of her as she's stumbling to bed.

just - thank you.

pix - ha! that's how you got knocked up.

mel - horrible picture too, huh?

That looks like a million dollar etch-a-sketch. I say your way wins.

I can see why you'd want to put it on the wall, but I think it's going to look weird with the entertainment unit under it with nothing on it. I'm all for Kym's way, as it includes my two favorite things: Pottery Barn and spending way more money than your husband wants to.

laur - of course!

tpp - there will be pictures of me on it. More people will be looking at that than the tv.

This has nothing to do with your TV stand, but the New York Times seems to have inadvertently released a spoiler about this season of The Office:
Mr. Silverman noted that one of the show’s main characters, Jim, was going to be in a long-distance relationship with another character, Pam, so naturally “they’re going to be text-messaging each other.”
So. Now we know.

I rather like the simple, classic lines of Kym's set up. You pay for quality y'know.

Your way is better. Make sure that you realize that studs are 18 inches apart, and run the wires down between the studs. When they come out of the wall at the bottom, you can buy a cover that will make it look better than a gaping hole in your wall with wires coming out. You could even get more mannish and build the little entertainment center to hold the Tivo and stuff yourself. Then Kym would be so turned on by your manliness that she would swoon like they used to back in the 1800's. Or, you can just do what your wife says because, in my experience, even when they're not right, they're right. It's a curious phenomenon.

TPP - Of course Jim and Pam are going to get together, but why the fuc* (*=k) would he accept the promotion if Pam wants to inspect his crime scene and claim his cash and prizes for herself. I guess this is a discussion for another post.

I agree with you, the man.

i just went through this with my tim. we ended up with a happy medium (and 75% MY way).

we bought a piece of furniture (not $1M). it's actually a piece that we can use in a dining room as a buffet. it's wide enough for the tv to sit on top, and shallow enough that it doesn't stick out profusely into the room.

tim still cries that it's not mounted on the wall.

Whatever TinaPoPo says, I say too.

Typical. You always get to see boobies on TV but never willies

Holly {ArtistMotherTeacher} said...

Popo—why the hell would write a spoiler that I have no self control over not reading?

Anonymous said...

Isn't it clear who's gonna win?

Unknown said...

million dollar for that? you need a new interior designer.

Unknown said...

i mean, Kym does

Anonymous said...

Yes, the world needs more willies.

And I can't afford a pot to piss in right now so Scott and I won't be buying any cool new tv's in the next few years. But the way you described your set up is the exact way we want it.

Jacob - I thought studs were 16 inches apart?

I think it varies from county to county, depending upon building codes:

From Everything2.com

You will find that the studs are located between 16" and 22" apart.

I'd like to weigh in on your question but I couldn't get past your starburst porn on tv. That's big time YO!
