Harold and Kumar ruin everything

One early evening on vacation I settled in front of the tv. We don’t have HBO at home so I was pretty excited to watch some good movies. I avoided watching Entourage because it was my favorite show last year and I want to watch the whole season in a row. After watching Napoleon Dynamite for the 13th time I was ready for something new. And that’s when I discovered Harold And Kumar go to White Castle. It was really fuckin funny in a this-is-the-most-retarded-shit-I’ve-ever seen kinda way. I mean, does it get any funnier than seeing Doogie Howser doing a line of coke off a chicks ass sticking out of the sunroof of a car he stole after hitchhiking? I don’t think so.

After watching the last 45 minutes of that masterpiece my mood was just as bright when I went out on the balcony where Kym and her parents and Kenslee were hanging out. My mother in law was dancing like a fool trying to get my daughter to laugh and she was. A few minutes later Kym leaned over and kissed her dad on the cheek and on the lips and I knew something wasn’t quite right. Kym and her mom took the baby inside leaving me in what became an awkward silence with her dad. I went inside to get ready for Kym and I’s night out. While getting ready she told me her dad just told her he has cancer. It’s “only” prostate cancer if there’s such thing as “only” cancer. He gets treatment in September and won’t be able to hold the baby for several months and isn’t supposed to hug any women in their child bearing years. So, basically it got us off our lazy asses to get Kens baptized before then, and things aren’t super happy right now. And I definitely hate cancer more than I did 3 posts ago.

I'm so sorry.

My Dad had prostrate cancer in 2002 and had it removed. I held his hand before and after the surgery, and stayed with my Mom. No fun. He's o.k. though.

I know you don't want or need medical advice, so I'll stop there. However, I hear EVERY man over a certain age is likely to get it, and it's very, very, curable. The not holding Kenslee thing or getting too close to Kym sucks.

I'm sending you good thoughts.

yeah. He was telling me that it's found in 100% of men over the age of 90... and some people do nothing about it because it's not a problem... but he's in his mid 50's so he's not risking anything.

thanks!

Damn, I'm sorry to hear that. Cancer of all kinds scares the shit out of me. Hurry and get that baby baptized so he can be there and be a part of it.

That really sucks.

Both the cancer, and the fact that you only saw the last 45 min of H&K. I hope you saw the part where Kumar fantasizes about marrying the huge bag of pot. "Learn to make fuckin coffee, bitch!"

Sorry again about your father-in-law.

My father-in-law just finished treatment for Prostate cancer. They have some terrific treatments that can make the cure rate very VERY high. Tell Kym to hang in there. It is scary now but things will be ok.

TF - that whole dream sequence sealed the deal to turn it from an average funny movie to a great funny movie.

That sucks. I'm so sorry that Kym's dad is going to have to go through all that.

If there is any disease that needs to be eradicated, it is definitely cancer. Hopefully we will see that happen in our lifetime.

Tim, I'm very sorry to hear about Kym's dad! I hope his surgery and recovery go well! I'll cross my paws for him and your family :)

As for H&K, funniest line EVA: "Bullets! my only weakness!"

Tim, I'm really sorry. That's terrible. I'll be thinking about you guys. The same thing happened to my friend's dad right after her niece was born and it was so sad for them because he couldn't hold the baby for a while. But everything will be okay. :)

Sorry to hear that but I'm sure everything will work out in the end. Make sure you fight that cancer to the extreme!

I hate this fucking disease as much as you do. I lost my stepfather to esophageal cancer. But I will tell you that my father had prostate cancer and was diagnosed in his late 60's, and he was treated and came out just fine. When they say "just" prostate cancer, it's true, though it sounds ridiculous. It truly is the most treatable.

Sorry you have to go through this. Sending good thoughts.

Is this post about your infant smoking weed? Weird.
